Over the last year, Campbell County Health has been part of some ongoing efforts to help prevent suicide in our community. Many of you may have heard the ads on Basin Radio Network featuring people in our community discussing suicide prevention resources available locally, warning signs and risk factors of suicide, as well as support groups and free training available to all community member to better assist those in need. This effort must continue.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Earlier, the Campbell County Prevention Council (CCPC) leadership team took part in the Doubtfire Face for Suicide Prevention Challenge created by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. You can see their video on YouTube.

To continue to efforts, the Campbell County Suicide Prevention Coalition (part of the CCPC) is hosting a Run for Life 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 13 starting at 9 am at Dalbey Memorial Park (Fishing Lake) Fire Station—registration begins at 8 am with the run/walk starting at 9:30 am. The cost is $25 with a shirt, or $15 without a shirt. CCH's own Tanya Allee, Wellness, will be sharing her survivor of suicide loss story with attendees to help spur on the conversation that suicide is preventable and we must unite to help those on their walk of grief.
