Pioneer Manor Activity Program Director receives Activity Professional of the Year Award

GILLETTE, WY - Florence Hieb, Campbell County Memorial Hospital's Activity Program Director and Nutrition Supervisor for Pioneer Manor (long term care facility), recently received the Activity Professional of the Year Award from the Wyoming Activity Coordinators Association (WACA) at a workshop held June 24-25, 2010.

Criteria for the award included: most innovative idea for an activity, most successful idea for a holiday, community support and involvement, personal qualities that encourage staff and volunteers to give their best and participation in WACA through a leadership role.

The Wyoming Activity Coordinators Association is a non-profit philanthropic organization founded 31 years ago to provide and encourage ongoing education to those who serve the elderly with an emphasis on quality of life and the Activity profession. WACA founded and sponsor State-approved two year Associate of Applied Science Activity Courses (APRO) at Casper College and award four scholarships each year. They advocate for Senior Issues with Legislators, nurture communication and stay abreast of national trends affecting the human service industry related to geriatrics and the long term care continuum.

"The Wyoming Activity Coordinators Association is honored to recognize Florence Hieb as 2010's Activity Professional of the Year," said Terri Newman, ADC, WACA Education Chair. "She is a true champion of quality of life in an important leadership role. Pioneer Manor's Sondra Dabney was 2009's recipient of the Activity Professional of the Year. This institution has been a leader and a model of quality care and service State-wide."

Florence Hieb has worked for Pioneer Manor since February 1994.
