Visiting process changes in Maternal Child Unit

  • Posted On:

Campbell County Health has implemented a new visitor check-in process in the Maternal Child Unit. The new process is designed to provide for greater infant security, improve communication between nursing staff and new mothers and allow for a positive experience for visitors.

All visitors must check-in with a staff person at the nursing station. Each new mother has the ability to receive four visitors at one time. Staff will issue a visitor ID pass that must be visible on clothing. In exchange for the ID pass, the visitor must provide a collateral item in exchange, such as a wallet or keys. Once the pass is returned, the collateral will be returned to the visitor. If all four passes are checked out, any incoming visitor must wait to visit or return at another time. Labor and Delivery visitors are limited to three people at a time.

Visiting hours have also been revised to accommodate dedicated patient education and family bonding time. Visiting hours on the Maternal Child unit are now from 8 am-2 pm and 4 - 8:30 pm.

"We understand that family and friends want to visit when a new baby arrives," said Maternal Child Interim Manager Suzanne Johnsrud. "Our first responsibility is to protect the health and safety of our patients, and we hope the public understands that this is purpose of our new visiting process."
