Welcome Alison Simpson

A career in medicine is ‘all in the family’ for Walk-in Clinic Physician Assistant Alison Simpson.

"My mom is a Nurse Practitioner in an Emergency Department who also worked in primary care", said Alison.

While in college, Alison worked as a CNA (Emergency Department Technician) in the Emergency Department at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, taking vital signs, entering lab and radiology orders and helping patients out to their vehicles.

"I got to see a lot", said Alison. I realized how much I loved it".

Alison graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Medical Microbiology/Pre-Medicine, and after a brief stint in a London, England work abroad program, she attended Duke University’s Physician Assistant program in Durham, North Carolina.

"I was bartending and doing office work in London", said Alison. "I wanted to do something that had meaning to others. I worked on applications to PA school while backpacking in Europe".

Alison joined the Walk-in Clinic staff in November, and likes the variety of patients and medical conditions she sees. She does miss the beach and warm winters of North Carolina, but also missed the snow during her time in the South.

Alison’s fiancé Zane Brady is from Gillette, and will eventually take over his family’s business. And Alison’s parents live in Cheyenne, so coming back to Wyoming was an easy decision.

"I was amazed at the positive things I heard about the Walk-in Clinic", said Alison. "It was great coming into a position with such a good reputation, and I’m looking forward to having new equipment and more space when we move" (into the space vacated by Surgery when the final phase of the expansion is completed).

As for living in Gillette, the community is growing on her.

"I did some Christmas shopping in Gillette", said Alison. "There were so many little stores I didn’t even know were here."
