CCH Employee Receives Lean Black Belt Certification

GILLETTE, WY – Bud Lawrence, Process Improvement Coordinator at Campbell County Health (CCH), recently received Lean Six Sigma Excellence in Healthcare Delivery Black Belt certification from The Performance Management Group.

The individuals earning this certificate learn the principles and applications which help healthcare systems implement a culture of continuous improvement and use methods such as lean management and practices like the Toyota Production System. These principles help improve patient outcomes while driving down the cost of patient care. Graduates apply the concepts of continuous improvement to create and sustain more productive, efficient and cost effective healthcare delivery throughout the organization.

The certification qualifies Mr. Lawrence to:

  • Execute the standard process improvement methodology to improve healthcare delivery costs.
  • Use continuous improvement methods to help improve patient outcomes.
  • Apply the Healthcare Criteria from the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards.
  • Apply lean methodology and six sigma practices in healthcare facilities to improve operational efficiency and service excellence.
  • Lead hospital executives and performance improvement staff in identifying lean opportunities across the enterprise.
  • Oversee development and execution of lean project plans to support process improvement initiatives.
  • Use Lean 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and other lean process activities in support of performance improvement initiatives.

As Process Improvement Coordinator, Bud oversees and coordinates lean activities for CCH. He teaches classes, leads lean value stream mapping projects and assists in the evaluation and implementation of process improvement initiatives across the organization.

He has been employed by CCH since February 2014.
