Accidental injury is the number one cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the United States. Also, each year one out of every four children needs medical attention for an accidental injury.
Safe Kids Campbell County, Safe Kids Wyoming and its network of Coalitions and Chapters are members of
Safe Kids Worldwide, a global network of organizations dedicated to preventing accidental injury. We know our efforts are needed because as many as 90 percent of accidental injuries can be prevented.
There is no one device or solution that will effectively prevent all types of accidental childhood injuries. Instead, Safe Kids coalitions combine several factors to create programs that reduce injuries:
- Educating adults and children
- Creating safe environments
- Conducting research
- Advocating for effective laws
Safe Kids Campbell County provides our community with free car seat checks, bike rodeos and much more to help educate our children. To see when the next Safe Kids Campbell County event takes place, visit
News and Events.
Coalition members reach out to their local communities with injury prevention messages, safety devices and hands-on training. Through them, Safe Kids programs reach families directly. In the United States, where more than 300 coalitions in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico are active, the national accidental injury death rate among children ages 14 and under has declined more than 40 percent since the inception of SafeKids. Safe Kids Worldwide (formerly the National SAFE KIDS Campaign) was founded in1987 by Children's National Medical Center with support from Johnson & Johnson.
