Surgery close to home ... the second time around

Joanne Tweedy has new knees and a new pain-free life!

There was no question about where Joanne Tweedy would have her second knee replacement—at Campbell County Health with surgeon Dr. Hans Kioschos from Powder River Orthopedics and Spine.

Joanne had her first knee replacement surgery in 2008 after the pain kept her from the work she loved on her family's ranch in southern Campbell County.

"This is home, and I want to have family around when I'm in the hospital," said Joanne. "And even more than that, I know the nurses and doctors who are taking care of me."

Dr. Kioschos performed Joanne's knee replacement in January, and she admits her recovery was slower than with the first surgery, and she had more pain.

"But I'm seven years older now, and I have much more arthritis," said Joanne.

She had physical therapy at home for the first two weeks after surgery, and outpatient physical therapy after that. Now she can kneel in the pew at her church, and continues to work on getting back to doing the things she loves, like gardening.

"I have no pain now," said Joanne, "Dr. Kioschos is one of the best. I would do it again (knee replacement surgery) if I had to."

Lucky for Joanne, her new knee should last for many years to come.
