Many of you will use December 31 as a night celebrate the coming year and
reflect on the 365 days of the year with house parties, bar hopping or
perhaps Netflix binging. Whether celebrating at a house party with friends
and family, or out at an event, consider taking a few precautions to ensure
that everyone celebrates safely.
Pop responsibly/drink responsibly. Did you know that a Champagne cork pops under close to 90 pounds of pressure?
When you are ready to open that bottle of bubbly, grab a towel to put
over the cork, point it at a 45 degree angle and aim it away from people.
And, if you do indulge in a glass or two, please drink responsibly. Consider
alternating glasses of alcohol with glasses of water, juice, or soda.
If you see a friend who may have overindulged, please help them find a
safe way home.
Don't drink and drive. If you have a friend who isn't a big drinker, consider asking them
to be your designated driver. If you don't, please plan on calling
a taxi to take you home. Here are a few numbers of taxis in the area to
reach out to tonight: City Cab, 307.685.1000; DC Cab, 307.299.8294; or
Need A Ride, 307.682.3666. And, if you don't like to leave your car
behind, consider contacting Camel Towing at 307.660.4002.
Drive defensively. If you are that designated driver, please be alert behind the wheel—put
down your cell phone and don't text while driving—and encourage
all your passengers to wear their seatbelts. Also, plan for some
wintery, icy weather.
CCH also wishes to say thank you to the medical professionals and staff
who are working over the holiday to keep many of our loved ones healthy,
and give gratitude to the fire and law enforcement officers and road plow
crews for keeping us all safe. Here's to a healthy and happy New Year!
