Thanks for working here Thursday: Thea (Boyd) Guseman, RN, CCH Home Health and Hospice

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Allow us to introduce Thea (Boyd) Guseman, RN, who works as a nurse at CCH Home Health and Hospice. For those who don’t know, Home Health provides care to patients at home—where they receive support from trained medical professionals, family, friends, plus the comfort of familiar surroundings; while Hospice care addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient through comfort care, symptom and pain management from life-limiting or terminal illnesses. Thea earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Gillette College, and has worked at CCH intermittently since 2009.

Thea is from a family of health care providers, which likely influenced her career choice as well. “My aunt is a nurse and my grandmother was a nurse. My dad was a volunteer EMT. My sister is a CNA. And my brother is a paramedic,” she says. Her health care hero just happens to be her grandmother. “She was an OB nurse for 40+ years. She was able to raise four kids as a single mother after my grandfather died of lymphoma. She put me through CNA training and I served as her hospice caregiver. She inspired me to become a hospice nurse by her example as a hospice patient. She taught me how to walk through the end of life with strength, dignity, and grace. She alleviated my fear of death, and taught me how to bring peace to a dark hour,” she says.

When she’s not at work, Thea says that she enjoys spending time with her husband and five kids. She also loves to travel, “especially to the beach!”

We asked Thea what she likes most about working at CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“Every day I feel pride in my work at CCH. Whether it was with Behavioral Health Services, or now in Hospice, I feel I am able to help those in their time of need. I hope that, like my grandmother, I alleviate fear and bring peace to those I serve. I interact with angels in my work at Hospice. I don’t know that many people can say that their job nourishes their soul, but mine does. I am so blessed to work for Hospice.

Excellence every day means that I embrace people where they are and walk beside them—whether that is through a period of mental illness, watching a family member in pain, or coming to terms with their own life-limiting illness. It means laughing and crying with my patients. It means listening and lots of hugs.”

Thank you, Thea, for providing such excellent care to our patients when they need it most. We are proud to have you on our team.
