You scream. I scream. We all scream for ice cream!

We all know that children in our community are getting excited to be released from school for the summer in Campbell County, Wyoming; but Campbell County Health Emergency Medical Services wants to remind everyone to be safe while riding bikes, scooters, skateboards, rollerblading, etc., by wearing a helmet!

To encourage children to be safe, EMS will be giving those wearing helmets a free ice cream cone from The Ice Cream Café! CCH EMS staff will distribute the coupons throughout the summer starting Monday, May 28, when they see children wearing their helmets.

For those who don’t know, helmets can reduce the risk of severe brain injuries by 88 percent – yet only 45 percent of children 14 and under usually wear a helmet. According to Safe Kids Campbell County, more children ages 5 to 14 are seen in emergency departments for injuries related to biking than any other sport.

Check out some bike safety tips, including a video on how to make sure your helmet is fitted properly, at www.cchwyo.org/bike.

Safe Kids Campbell County provides our community with free car seat checks by appointment, safety seat events, bike rodeos and much more to help educate our children. Learn more at www.cchwyo.org/safekids. Learn more about EMS in Campbell County, Wyoming at www.cchwyo.org/ems.
