CCH offers Chronic Pain Management Symposium

GILLETTE, WY – Campbell County Health (CCH) professionals are hosting a Chronic Pain Management Symposium to offer tips and tools to help participants improve function and regain areas of life that were once enjoyed. Dates the symposium is offered include:

  • Friday, September 21, 2018 from 1-3 pm at the Campbell County Senior Center, 701 Stocktrail Avenue, Gillette
  • Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 6-8 pm at the Campbell County Public Library, 1201 S. 4-J Road, Gillette

During both two-hour sessions, nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists and physicians will demonstrate and talk about coping strategies, flare-up management, how food and lifestyle impact pain, how to change the fight or flight response to pain and other alternatives. Both sessions are free and open to all adults with chronic pain.

“Medication does work when taken and used correctly; however, human beings are strong creatures and as healthcare professionals, we want to help our chronic pain population learn other ways to help them retrain their brain and its response to pain,” says Symposium coordinator and CCH nurse, Marcia Saunders.

Chronic pain is a life-altering and debilitation condition that affects thousands of people all over the world. Chronic pain is defined as a pain lasting six months or longer, is ongoing and lasts beyond the expected time for healing.
