CCH's Holly Hink, APRN, talks about Pertussis

Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, is a highly contagious respiratory disease, and there have been five reported cases of it in Campbell County recently. In this video, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Holly Hink at the Kid Clinic answers some questions about pertussis—what it is, what symptoms look like, and how it’s prevented.
For those who don’t know, pertussis is known for uncontrollable, violent coughing, which often makes it hard to breathe. After cough fits, someone with pertussis often needs to take deep breaths, which result in a “whooping” sound. Pertussis can affect people of all ages, but can be very serious, even deadly, for babies less than a year old.

Holly Hink, APRN, CPNP, works at the Campbell County Medical Group Kid Clinic, a school-based pediatric clinic offering medical care for Campbell County, Wyoming.
