CCH Employee Receives Certification in Wound Care

GILLETTE, WY – Valerie Beck, registered nurse at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center, recently received certification as a Wound Care Clinician (WCC) from the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO).

Valerie is one of three WCC certified staff at The Legacy, allowing for more in-depth assessment and treatment opportunities, as well as interdepartmental collaboration on wound prevention and treatment for long term care residents. She has worked for CCH for four years.

The WCC certification program provides participants with current evidence-based education in the area of skin and wound management and upon completion enables participants to accurately assess, document, identify and plan appropriate and comprehensive patient treatment plans and interventions for wound management. Certification is valid for two years, and individuals must complete a recertification course to keep the WCC certification.
