GILLETTE, WY – As of January 1, 2016, Powder River Surgery Center (PRSC) became wholly owned by Campbell County Health (CCH). The buyout process, begun in 2008, brings PRSC facilities, management and employees within the CCH organizational structure as a department of CCH, while retaining the name Powder River Surgery Center. Patients will benefit from improved communication and more streamlined continuity of care, while retaining the ability to choose where to have their surgical procedure.
A PRSC transition committee met frequently over the past year to help make the process go smoothly in the areas of human resources, clinical integration, billing and legal issues.
Michelle Kioschos is the Director of PRSC, reporting to Deb Tonn, Vice President of Patient Care Services. An Operating Committee composed of the PRSC department chair, PRSC Director, CCH CEO, CFO, VP of HR and VP of Patient Care will meet quarterly for a period of time to ensure the continuation of quality care and exceptional patient experience.
"We are pleased to welcome PRSC as a part of our organization," said Deb Tonn. "They have a great staff and facility and have consistently received high marks for their accreditation as a freestanding surgery center. I think there are great opportunities for us to learn from each other as we enter into this new phase of our relationship. Please be sure to welcome our new colleagues when you see them."
PRSC has been accredited by Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC), since 2005. Types of surgical procedures performed at PRSC include orthopedic, podiatry, ear, nose and throat, general surgery and pain management procedures. The Center performed 2,667 surgical procedures in 2015.
"Powder River Surgery Center has continuously strived for excellence and will continue to provide the exceptional patient care that we are known for," said PRSC Director Michelle Kioschos. "We are pleased to become part of CCH, as this can only provide us with more resources for the future."
