GILLETTE, WY – The
Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center, Campbell County Health’s new long term care and short term rehab
facility, is looking for volunteers to help with the upcoming move from
Pioneer Manor to The Legacy. The projected moving day is November 2; and
volunteers are needed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day, as well as throughout
the weekend prior to moving (October 28-30, 2016).
Administrator Jonni Belden is both excited and anxious about the big day.
“Pioneer Manor’s 120 residents will move to their new home
all in one day,” said Jonni Belden. “Much like going on a
cruise, and based on which neighborhood they are moving to, residents
will travel in small groups. They will have their boarding ticket and
luggage ready to depart for their destination, board the bus, drive the
6-8 minutes through downtown and be welcomed by a homecoming celebration
complete with spirit flags and music. We are heavily relying on volunteers
to keep the process as smooth as possible.”
Volunteer tasks include traffic control at both The Legacy and Pioneer
Manor, greeting arrivals at The Legacy, neighborhood and kitchen hosts
at The Legacy, coat check, meals/water delivery, runners, play/perform
music, pack/haul office materials, and pack/haul/unpack computers and
phones. Groups, clubs, businesses (up to 5-6 people each) high school
age young adults, and individuals are all welcome to help with the move.
All volunteers must attend an orientation session that will be held at
various times and dates the last two weeks of October. Volunteers under
18 years old must have a parental release completed. For the safety of
both residents and volunteers, orientation is required; volunteers who
have not attended orientation will be turned away. Every volunteer will
get a t-shirt as a thank you for volunteering.
