Local Physician Receives Additional Board Certification in Pain Management

GILLETTE, WY – John Mansell, MD, in practice at A Wyoming Pain Clinic, recently earned board certification from the American Board of Pain Management (ABPM) after fulfilling the educational, professional and examination standards set by the ABPM.

Dr. Mansell is also Board Certified in Anesthesiology and the Subspecialty of Pain Management from the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Board certification is a voluntary program in which specialists seek to improve their performance and demonstrate a commitment to their profession. ABPM has certified nearly 2,300 physicians as of January 2016.

The specialty of Pain Medicine, or Algiatry, is a discipline within the field of medicine that is concerned with the prevention of pain, and the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of persons in pain. Some conditions may have pain and associated symptoms arising from a discrete cause, such as postoperative pain or pain associated with a malignancy, or may be conditions in which pain constitutes the primary problem, such as neuropathic pains or headaches.
