CCH Employee Receives Diabetes Educator Certification

GILLETTE, WY–Melissa Gorsuch, RN, Campbell County Medical Group (CCMG) Diabetes Education, received certification as a Diabetes Educator (CDE) from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE).

As part of the Diabetes Education program at CCMG, Melissa provides diabetes education to help patients successfully self-manage diabetes and prevent complications. She has worked for Campbell County Health since 2009.

The CDE is a practice-based certification, requiring applicants to accrue professional practice experience as part of the certification process: a minimum of two years of professional practice and a minimum of 1,000 hours providing diabetes education prior to completing a certification examination.

A CDE is a health professional who possesses comprehensive knowledge of an experience in diabetes management, prediabetes, and diabetes prevention. A CDE educates and supports people affected by diabetes to understand and manage the condition. A CDE promotes self-management to achieve individualized behavioral and treatment goals that optimize health outcomes. Learn more at www.ncbde.org.
