Children’s Summer Program

Behavioral Health Services (BHS) and Campbell County Medical Group
Kid Clinic host a Children’s Summer Group Treatment Program to the children
and families of Campbell County. Developed by
William F. Heineke, Ph.D., the program is a response to the community need for a systematic
intervention with troubled children and their families.
Program provides individual and group counseling experiences for children
and families in need. Activities are utilized to instill positive choices
for the wise use of leisure time and mindful self-regulation strategies.
It is designed to help children who are Pre-Kindergarten through sixth
grade develop the following skills:
- Taking responsibility for behaviors
- Social skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Academic achievement behaviors
- Cooperative skills
- Confl ict resolution skills
- Self-concept & self-esteem
- Mindful self-regulation
Professional, highly-trained staff work with children and families to promote
positive changes through structured activities with consistent and coordinated
support taking place in many settings including home and school. Children
will participate in the following activities: art projects, bowling, day
trips out-of-town, parks, swimming, and yoga, among others.
Children participating in the program must be clients of BHS or the Kid
Clinic and are required to complete the intake process. A final report
of your child’s progress will be written after the program is completed
and will be provided to the agencies you request during the intake process.
Regular attendance in the program is very important to achieve maximum
benefits for the child and family. A parent group may be offered. There
are no sessions the week of July 4.
