Community Information

Campbell County, Wyoming is situated between the Big Horn Mountains to the west and the Black Hills to the east, in the Powder River Basin. The Basin is divided by the Powder River, which flows north into Montana where it joins the Yellowstone River.

Established in 1911, it is home to the cities of Gillette and Wright, along with the unincorporated communities of Recluse and Rozet.

Cultural and Recreational Opportunities

Gillette is the largest city in the County. The city boasts an art walk, bowling alleys, community art center, excellent parks, golf and disc golf courses, gyms, movie-plex, museum, recreational facilities, and the state's premier multi-use facility, CAM-PLEX, among others. There are a variety of events offered throughout the year-from rodeos to fairs to concerts and theatrical productions to hockey games and music festivals.

Wright is the second largest community in the County. The town keeps active with numerous community events, parks, the Haycreek Golf Course, and a recreation center. Panther Pond, which is well stocked with trout, crappie, catfish and bass, has a walking path around its perimeter where antelope, deer, and Canadian geese can be seen. The recreation center provides a range of youth programs and is equipped with a four-lane swimming pool, fitness areas, racquetball courts, picnic areas, playgrounds and more.

Residents in Campbell County participate in numerous outdoor activities such as BMX bike racing, boating, cycling, fishing, golfing, hiking, hunting, motocross, rock climbing, roller derby, running, skiing, snowmobiling, and water sports, among others.

Education

Campbell County School District serves about 8,750 students in 24 schools; it's the third-largest in Wyoming and continues to steadily grow. District facilities include a planetarium, an aquatic center and the Science Center-Adventurarium.

The region is also home to Gillette College, part of the Northern Wyoming Community College District. The institution offers Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, Certificates and more. The school features a Nursing School and a state-of-the-art Technical Education Center.
