About Amanda
Amanda Opfer knew she wanted to become a doctor since about the age of seven, and an undergraduate rotation in an Emergency Department as a CNA sealed the deal for her.
Amanda attended medical school at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Parker, Colo., and completed her Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas, where she worked at Parkland Hospital. She chose emergency medicine for the challenge and variety of patients she sees, and the ability to work in collaboration with different specialists and staff. She already loves the Campbell County Memorial Hospital Emergency Department group, saying it feels like a big family.
Amanda came to Gillette, in part, because her husband Jake grew up here. The pair met as undergraduates their very first weekend at Virginia Tech. Jake is a general surgeon practicing in Bozeman, Montana, where the couple is in the process of buying their first home. Amanda plans to stay with her in-laws, Cheryl and Jim Opfer, during her shifts in Gillette.
When she’s not working Amanda loves hiking and kayaking. She and Jake also enjoy cooking together and spoiling their two dogs.
