Why are you working in your chosen specialty? A happy life consists not in the absence, but in the mastery of hardship - Helen Keller

I didn’t start my career journey knowing I wanted to be a therapist. For ten years I had the privilege of working one on one with people who wanted to better their wellness, but it felt incomplete. It was only when I went through my own trials and made a positive change because of them, did I realize what I wanted to do with the rest of my career. I love helping people and have every confidence that with some honest work, that people can become who they want to be and not only make a positive difference for themselves but for their families, friends and communities.

Why is being a provider important to you? Just as our physical body needs to be cared for, so does our mental health. I want people to know that while hardship is inevitable it is possible to come out stronger on the other side.

Why did you choose to work for CCH? CCH offers such a great opportunity to work with a diverse population in an environment that is conducive to learning. The organization consistently makes an effort in providing the best possible services for the community. CCH is open to hearing what people have to say and making changes for continued improvement.

What has made you feel the most pride in your work at CCH? Every day I am surrounded by people who make a genuine effort to make positive difference in the people of this community.

Who is your health care hero and why? While I look up to many teachers in the field and strive to learn all I can from them, I am truly enjoying the work of Bessel Van Der Kolk right now. So many people experience trauma both large and small. While some are show great resilience and growth through the experience others get trapped in the pain and chaos of it. Bessel Van Der Kolk brings a clear understanding to the body’s response to trauma and a hopeful road map for a whole new level of healing from these experiences.

What advice do you give someone who is looking for a new provider? Therapists are only as good as the information they have. Speak up if something is not working, take an active role in your therapeutic experience and if you’re with a therapist that isn’t a good fit, it’s ok to transfer to someone else.

What do you do for fun? I love spending time with my family. I enjoy staying home, playing games, walking and reading. I also enjoy traveling, camping, boating, hiking and making new memories with my family.
