Campbell County Medical Group Kid Clinic Welcomes Dr. Leopoldo Cabrera, MD, FAAP

GILLETTE, Wyo. - September 18, 2023 - Campbell County Medical Group Kid Clinic is thrilled to announce the arrival of distinguished and board-certified pediatrician Dr. Leopoldo Cabrera, to our team. Dr. Cabrera brings a wealth of experience and passion for pediatric medicine to Northeast Wyoming.

Originally from the Philippines, Dr. Cabrera made the United States his home in the 1990s, and his journey has now led him to Gillette, Wyoming. When asked about his decision to join the Campbell County Medical Group Kid Clinic, he shared that while he explored multiple communities, Gillette stood out to him most.

"Gillette's a small community, and everyone was so friendly when I visited,” said Dr. Cabrera. “When I visited the hospital, I knew this would be the best place to practice medicine."

Dr. Cabrera's path to pediatrics was unique; he began his journey as a seminarian pursuing the priesthood before shifting his focus towards becoming a medical provider. He earned his medical degree at Far East University Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation and completed his pediatric residency at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. Prior to moving to the United States, Dr. Cabrera also obtained a background in internal medicine and pulmonology.

As a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Cabrera is dedicated to the well-being of children and their families. He shared that the best thing about being a physician is the ability to help those in need.

"It [being a physician] is service to the community,” said Dr. Cabrera. “It is providing assistance to others, it is healing others, and that's the most fulfilling thing in life."

Beyond his work, Dr. Cabrera enjoys a diverse range of interests. He has a lifelong passion for basketball gained while in seminary, and often plays with his son and friends. In a light-hearted moment, he joked about wanting to become an NBA player one day. He is also an chess player and pianist. Dr. Cabrera's commitment to serving others is evident through his mission work; prior to COVID he would take annual trips to the Philippines to provide healthcare services. Above all else, Dr. Cabrera cherishes spending quality time with his family, emphasizing that family comes first.

His dedication to serving others, commitment to family, and extensive experience aligns perfectly with the values upheld by Campbell County Medical Group Kid Clinic. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Dr. Leopoldo Cabrera, MD, FAAP as he embarks on this new chapter in Gillette, Wyoming, providing Excellence Every Day to pediatric patients across Northeast Wyoming.
