Thanks for working here Thursday: Marcy, RN, Pioneer Manor

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Say hello to Marcy, RN, the MDS Coordinator at Pioneer Manor long term care facility. Marcy has been with CCH for seven years. As an MDS (Minimum Data Set) nurse, Marcy conducts federally mandated assessments of the patients at the Manor. When she was younger, she was interested in becoming a private investigator or detective; however a close friend of Marcy’s encouraged her to become a nurse when she was in her mid-20s. As a MDS nurse, she is able to do both. We asked Marcy what she likes most about working at Pioneer Manor, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“There are so many different areas of nursing available with CCH, and that’s a good thing. The majority of my floor nursing was working the evening shifts and night shifts and now I get to work closer with other aspects of long term care that I did not really know existed. Being an MDS nurse is challenging and I am so grateful for this opportunity. I get most of my enjoyment by helping the residents smile and feel good, even if just for a couple of minutes.

If I can help anyone, be it a staff member, a visitor, or a resident, I will help to best of my ability, knowledge, and practice. The people I work with are truly amazing people and I feel that everyone here does their very best to create an environment for the residents and their families which makes them feel important, well cared for, and safe. To me, that is excellence.”

Becoming a nurse is something Marcy says is the best decision she’s ever made, and we couldn’t agree more. Marcy also recently received certification as a Resident Assessment Coordinator from the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination—showing CCH she is not only committed to the nursing profession, but also to improving residents experiences at Pioneer Manor. We are proud to have Marcy on our team.
