About This Event

Details:

Behavioral Health Services (BHS) children’s Summer Group Treatment Program is about to start its summer of service to the children and families of Campbell County. Developed by William F. Heineke, Ph.D., the program is a response to the community need for a systematic intervention with troubled children and their families.

Offered Mondays through Thursdays from June 6-July 21, the program provides individual and group counseling treatment for children and families in need. It is designed to help children who are Pre-Kindergarten through sixth grade develop skills with conflict resolution, organization, responsibility, socially interacting and working with others, and work on self-concept and self-esteem. There are no sessions the week of July 4.

BHS staff work with children promote positive changes through individual time with each child and in structured activities in a variety of settings including art projects, bowling, day trips out of town, visiting parks, swimming and yoga. Group activities address a variety of behavioral goals involving but not limited to: children of divorce, conflict resolution skills, making and keeping friends, self-esteem, and self-calming behaviors.

A behavioral goal homework sheet is utilized with parents and caregivers so efforts with the children’s goals are coordinated between the program and home.

The children must be enrolled clients of BHS or the CCMG Kid Clinic with behavioral goals to participate in the program. Parents must register for the program by May 16.

To enroll, please call Behavioral Health Services at 307-688-5000 or at the CCMG Kid Clinic at 307-688-8710.
