About Laura

Stimson and her husband were drawn to Gillette’s proximity to the outdoors. Her career as a clinical social worker stems from her strong desire to make a difference. "I wanted to know I was contributing directly to people’s lives," Stimson expressed.

Her journey into mental health care began during her undergraduate years while working at a children's hospital, where her passion for supporting youth with mental health concerns flourished.

Formerly employed by the Missouri Children's Division, Stimson deeply believes in the essential role families play in a child's treatment. "The family is a core part of a child’s treatment," she stressed.

Now, as a part of the Kid Clinic, Stimson values the camaraderie between her colleagues, highlighting the significance of collaboration, especially when children face challenges in their journeys. "My favorite thing about working at the Kid Clinic are the people – they are a very close-knit team," Stimson shared.

Emphasizing a holistic approach to a child's well-being, Stimson underscores the importance of considering all facets, including school and family, in a child's treatment.

“To treat a child, it is essential you look at everything including schooling and family,” said Stimson. “I have some kiddos that may be struggling in school, and being at Kid Clinic, we can very easily collaborate with the schools.”

Beyond her work, Stimson finds joy in supporting her own kids at their hockey games and enjoys traveling with her family.
