Thanks for working here Thursday: Laura Gerber, CNA, CCH Home Health and Hospice

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Meet Laura Gerber, CNA, an Aide at CCH Home Health and Hospice in Gillette, Wyoming. Laura has been in health care for more than seven years, and she’s been with CCH for more than two of those years. Home Health provides care to patients at home-where they receive support from trained medical professionals, family, friends, plus the comfort of familiar surroundings. Home healthcare may also mean earlier discharge from the hospital, and lower healthcare costs. Hospice is a team-oriented approach to providing specialized care for people facing a life-limiting illness or injury. It includes expert medical care, pain management and emotional support for patients and their families.

Laura was inspired to work in health care when her grandmother was ill. “She needed home hospice care. I was very worried about her. The health care team explained to me what they were doing to help make her comfortable and able to stay home. The caring spirit of those workers inspired me to go into the health care field,” she says.

She calls her supervisor, Jenni Miller, RN, her health care hero. “I admire her ability to switch positions and become the person who guides us in our careers and work,” Laura says.

When she’s not working, Laura enjoys taking her Yorkshire Terriers (Yorkies) on walks. “I like to spend my summers camping and fishing,” she says.

We asked Laura what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“I feel proud of the chance I have been given to help patients, and make them safe and comfortable in their homes. I enjoy working in my department because all of my coworkers work as a team that is efficient.

Excellence Every Day means being the best I can be every day by being calm, understanding, and a good listener.”

Thank you, Laura, for taking care of our home health and hospice patients. We appreciate you!
