New Tool for Estimating Your Healthcare Costs

Planning for good health should be simple. And you should have all the tools you need to make the best, most informed decisions about your health care. Campbell County Health now has an online health cost calculator on our website for our patients, giving you hospital price estimates for most routine tests and procedures, including:

  • Imaging exams (like x-rays, CT scans and MRIs)
  • Lab tests
  • Surgeries

Knowing your estimated costs for health care services can help you plan for the future. It can also help you have more informed talks with your doctor about the tests and treatments you need. You can use our online health cost estimator to compare prices across other providers and networks and decide on procedures that fit your needs, medically and financially.

Have your health insurance plan name and policy number ready when you fill out our online cost estimator tool. This helps us give you the most accurate estimate. That way, you can make the best medical cost comparison. If you are filling out the form for someone else, please have the policy holder’s information on hand. The price estimator tool uses data with no personal identifiers to see what others have paid for the same procedure at the same facility. Based on this, we take your personal insurance information (coinsurance amount and deductible amount) into account and calculate your estimated hospital out-of-pocket expenses. You can search for up to three different services in the same encounter, with over 300 common procedures in the system. The online tool is secure and confidential, the information is used only to calculate your cost estimate.

The price estimate will probably not match the final bill for healthcare services exactly, as it is a good faith estimate only.

The amount of your final bill will likely be different. It can depend on several things, including:

  • Any additional tests that may be needed
  • Non-hospital fees, such as those for the surgeon, anesthesiologist or radiologist
  • Any additional care needs that may extend your hospital stay or result in further treatment

“We’ve had some delays in implementing this tool,” said Mary Lou Tate, Chief Financial Officer. “But now it’s ready to go and we’re very excited for people to be able to use it. Knowing approximately what the price will be before a test or procedure can really help our patients.”

If your procedure is not listed in the health calculator tool, you can still get a cost estimate by contacting Pre-Access Services at 307-688-1491. Hours are Monday-Friday from 8 am-4 pm, or email questions to: ptransparency@cchwyo.org. Learn more at www.cchwyo.org/pe.
