Thanks for working here this week: Lacey Aguilar, CMT, CCMH Patient Access

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Say hello to Lacey Aguilar, CMT, the Patient Access Coordinator at Campbell County Memorial Hospital Patient Access (or Registration) in Gillette, Wyoming. Lacey is a Certified Medical Transcriptionist and has worked in healthcare for 10 years.

She was inspired to work in health care by her sister. “She started her work at CCH in our pathology department about five years before I started. She would always come home and talk about her day, and seemed to really enjoy the people she worked with and the job she was doing. She told me the hospital was a great place to work, and I have to agree,” she says.

Lacey calls her health care hero Jacklyn Leiss. “We worked together in patient access and through her registration position in the Emergency Department, and she decided she wanted to become a nurse. She pursued her nursing degree and has since become an RN in our ED,” she says. “Jacklyn is always a great co-worker. She is always positive and happy with a smile on her face. It is so neat to watch her with patients, as she is so kind and compassionate. It is great to see Jacklyn with her pediatric patients—she is great with children who are scared or have been in a trauma situation. She has such a calming and caring nature that they respond to her positively and they feel safe with her. She truly found her calling in life and is an inspiration to many.”

When Lacey isn’t at work, she loves to be with her family. “I have two son’s ages 14 and 16 that I love spending time with. Both participate in sports and that keeps me very busy. I enjoy going to watch their basketball and football games. I even enjoy running them to and from practices and games. It’s a great way to spend some one on one time with them,” she says. Lacey’s family lives in Gillette, and they get together often to do family BBQ’s and enjoy watching movies and playing games in the backyard. “We love taking road trips and seeing all the side attractions each state has to offer. We’ve stumbled along some pretty cool things along the way,” she says.

We asked Lacey what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“I feel the most pride in my work when I make a personal connection with my patients. I see many patients on a weekly basis and it is very rewarding when we get to know each other enough to talk about how their kids and grandkids are, or how their vacation was, or even how their medical treatment is going. It is a great way to meet members of this community that you would normally never get to have a connection with. To take time to really listen to someone and get to know them is rewarding to me. I also love the people that I work with. We have the best team. In my 10 years at CCH I have gotten to work with many wonderful people. I have met many friends here and truly enjoy coming to work each day.

Excellence Every Day to me means that you show up with a positive attitude and a willingness to help every day. In health care you will help patients at their worst of times and some at their best. Even if you are a receptionist or secretary or registration clerk, you will still communicate with the patient. The patients rely on you to ensure them that everything is ok with them or a family member, even if you are not treating them. They need reassurance that we as a health care facility know what we are doing with them, where they are going, and a comforting ear to vent to some days. At the end of the day many patients are very appreciative of the hard work you put in, and knowing you may have changed somebody’s day is what makes health care very rewarding.”

Thank you, Lacey for taking such great care of our patients. We are proud to have you on our team.
