CCH not affected by voluntary medication recall

GILLETTE, WY – Campbell County Health (CCH) has been advised of a voluntary recall of two lots of medication Veklury®, also known as Remdesivir (100mg for injection). The voluntary recall is due to the presence of glass particles.

“Upon thorough review of all shipments of Remdesivir received by Campbell County Health, we have not had or administered medication that is affected in this recall” said Kirsi Ludwig, Ph. D., Pharmacy Director.

Remdesivir is the medication used to treat COVID-19 positive patients who are hospitalized. Administration of Remdesivir is determined through many variables and not every hospitalized COVID-19 patient had or will receive this medication.

Pharmaceutical manufacturer, Gilead Sciences Inc., distributed the affected vials nationwide beginning in October 2021. Lot number 2141001-1A was distributed to wholesalers between October 25 and October 26, 2021; lot number 2141002-1A was distributed to wholesalers between October 25 and November 2, 2021.

Consumers should contact their physician or healthcare provider if they have experienced any problems that may be related to taking or using this drug product.
