On March 3, 2022, Campbell County Health awarded Kiarra Leggit with a BEE Award. Kiarra is a Registration Specialist in the CCMG Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine department.

The BEE (Be Excellent Every Day) Award was established to recognize staff members who go beyond extraordinary expectations, but who are not nurses.

Kiarra was nominated by her director, Lonnie Schell.

In the nomination form, Lonnie wrote:

"I wanted to recognize the awesome work of one of my Registration Specialists, Kiarra Leggit. She very well saved the life of one of our patients.”

The patient was supposed to have an exam and did not show up for the appointment. Kiarra found this unusual, since the patient always came to his appointments in the past. She contacted the patient each day for several days and reached out to other organizations associated with the patient to see if anyone had heard from him.

“Kiarra felt that something wasn’t right, and unusual behavior for that patient, so I gave her the go-ahead to request a welfare check for him.”

It turned out that when the police officers arrived they found the patient had been trapped in his bathroom for several days. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.

“Without Kiarra’s initiative to check on the patient, who knows how long he could have been trapped, and what the outcome could have been? Our registration staff do a tremendous job and really get to know our patients.”

Thank you Kiarra, your compassion for our patients deserves recognition!

About the BEE and DAISY Awards

The BEE and the DAISY Awards were established to honor the extraordinary care the incredible staff at CCH offer.

Patients, families and colleagues can nominate nurses for a DAISY Award and support staff for a BEE award. These recognitions highlight staff who go beyond the expectations, consistently demonstrating kind and genuine care through respectful and honest communication and treatment. These staff provided hope and a feeling of peace and safety to patients and their families during vulnerable and anxious times.

The BEE Award was established in 2020 by the nurses at Campbell County Health to complement the DAISY Award. Those eligible for the BEE Award include all hospital employees outside of nursing. This special honor is celebrated once a quarter. Nominate a CCH nurse for the DAISY Award at www.cchwyo.org/DAISY. Nominate a staff member for the BEE Award at www.cchwyo.org/BEE
