Thanks for Working Here This Week: Kristi Sires-Cannon

Meet Kristi Sires-Cannon, registered nurse in Maternal Child Services. Kristi has worked at CCH for six years, and worked in healthcare for 12 years. She takes care of patients in both the Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum rooms (called LDRPs), and in the Level II NICU. The Level II NICU cares for premature newborns who need more intensive care.

Kristi loves being a resource for patients and their families. In addition to being a certified OB nurse (RNC-OB), she is an ACLS/PALS/BLS instructor, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring instructor, ACLS-OB instructor and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) instructor. Receiving and maintaining these certifications requires significant time and effort on the part of the employees who pursue them, but it enables CCH to provide staff education to the whole department.

OB Clinical Care Supervisor Steffany Peters says, “Kristi is a rock star. She helps teach education classes for the nurses on the unit, and is always there for her patients.”

Kristi feels the most pride in her work when the parents of the babies she has cared for in the Level II NICU still remember her several years later.

Kristi says, “It’s great being a resource for patients and their families on what can be the best day of their life or the worst. I love teaching new parents how to care for their infant or even helping them through the journey of being a patient in the Level II NICU. I enjoy building a lasting bond with them during their stay and sometimes a friendship develops for years to come. I am a nurse that will laugh with them, talk with them, help them and even cry with them. They are my priority, and I will do whatever it takes to help them have a memorable experience.”

When she is not at work, Kristi enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with her husband and children.

Thank you, Kristi, for taking great care of our patients every day at Campbell County Health. We appreciate all that you do.
