Aligned Providers Wyoming Begins Emergency Department and Hospitalist Management at Campbell County Health

GILLETTE, Wyo. – Jan. 05, 2023 – Aligned Providers Wyoming (APW) began providing emergency department and hospitalist services at Campbell County Health (CCH) on January 1, 2023. Previously both services were managed by CCH employed physicians. In the fall of 2022, CCH made the decision to outsource these services and contract with APW to help increase quality of care and efficiency in the emergency department and inpatient services. The transition is proceeding smoothly, as planned, without disruption in care to the Gillette community.

APW is an emergency, urgent care, and hospitalist medicine management group formed in 2017 to serve Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s emergency department. Today, APW serves more than 13 hospitals across Wyoming and Nebraska and has a robust network of highly qualified healthcare providers across the region.

All current CCH emergency medicine and hospitalist physicians were offered the opportunity to continue working at CCH. 18 emergency medicine and hospitalist physicians have chosen to remain with CCH. Additionally, the APW team has recruited 14 emergency medicine and hospitalist physicians and 7 Advanced Practice Providers (Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Nurses) to meet CCH’s staffing needs.

APW’s planned staffing model includes incorporating APPs to work alongside physicians in the CCH emergency department. APW is actively working with the CCH to credential the new APP team members to serve the CCH emergency department by March 1, 2023. In the interim, APW has worked collaboratively with CCH to design a temporary physician-only emergency department staffing plan.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to serve another community in Wyoming and to support two strong programs,” says APW President Dr. Eugene Gicheru. “We are confident that the emergency department and inpatient services at CCH will grow even stronger as our relationships with the teams at CCH grow. APW looks forward to working with CCH to provide outstanding, efficient emergency and hospitalist care for the Gillette community.”

“We are confident that our partnership with APW will strengthen and enhance the level of care we provide to our community,” said Campbell County Health CEO Matt Shahan. “We are optimistic about the future for both our hospitalist and emergency medicine programs. We know that this change is a positive and necessary step towards embodying Excellence Every Day and becoming the first choice for healthcare in Wyoming.”
