Campbell County Health’s Dr. William Salmon Featured by America’s Best in Medicine

Campbell County Health is proud to celebrate Dr. William Piet Salmon, MD, a psychiatrist at Campbell County Health Behavioral Health Services in Gillette, for being highlighted by America’s Best in Medicine.
This recognition shines a light on Dr. Salmon’s expertise, compassion, and commitment to improving mental health care for the patients and families in northeast Wyoming.
Dr. Salmon is a board-certified psychiatrist. He earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed his psychiatry residency training at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, where he also served as Co-Chief Resident.
His background includes diagnosing and managing complex psychiatric conditions while focusing on evidence-based, compassionate, and patient-centered care.
“I find the greatest reward in helping individuals navigate some of the most challenging moments in their lives. I strive to equip my patients with the tools they need to overcome these obstacles and to help them rediscover the beauty and potential that life has to offer,” said Dr. Salmon.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Salmon has contributed to more than 19 research projects and has presented at national and international forums on topics that include anxiety management, suicide prevention, health psychology, and psychedelic medicine in clinical care.
His work reflects a strong commitment to connecting research, education, and real-world patient care.
Dr. Salmon’s accomplishments also include graduating from medical school with Highest Honors, earning repeated recognition on the Dean’s Honor List, serving as Co-Chief Resident during residency, and helping his team earn second place in the American Psychiatric Association’s national MIND GAMES competition.
These achievements reflect both his academic excellence and his dedication to advancing the field of psychiatry.
Beyond clinical care and research, Dr. Salmon has also contributed as an educator and community advocate. He has led workshops and educational programs focused on anxiety management, suicide prevention, and other emerging topics in mental health care.
His work reflects a passion for making complex mental health information more accessible to both patients and the broader community.
Since joining Campbell County Health in October 2024, Dr. Salmon has helped expand access to psychiatry services for people in Gillette and across northeast Wyoming.
We congratulate Dr. Salmon on this well-deserved recognition and thank him for the care, knowledge, and compassion he brings to Campbell County Health and our patients.
His achievement is one more example of the high level of care available here in Gillette and of our ongoing commitment to meeting the mental health needs of the communities we serve.
