GILLETTE, WY – Campbell County Health has initiated visiting restrictions on the
Maternal Child and Labor & Delivery unit at Campbell County Memorial Hospital and at
The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center to a recent rise in cases of influenza, or
flu, within the community.
Maternal Child unit:
- The Maternal Child has restricted visiting to the mother's spouse or
significant other and two additional visitors at any one time. Visiting
in Labor & Delivery is always limited to three.
- Children under 12 years old are not permitted to visit. The newborn’s
sibling(s), who are under 12 years old, may visit if they are screened
for symptoms of illness by Maternal Child nurses.
- Visitors who feel ill should not visit.
- Masks and hand sanitizer are available throughout the hospital and at each
entrance. Patients presenting at the Emergency Department, Campbell County
Medical Group Walk-in Clinic, CCMG Main Clinic or other Campbell County
Medical Group offices within the hospital should wear a mask and use hand
sanitizer if they feel ill or have cold or flu symptoms such as fever or cough.
“RSV and flu cases in the community have been very low this respiratory
season but the numbers are now climbing”, according to Veronica
Taylor, CCH Infection Prevention Specialist. “Newborns are at a
higher risk for contracting the flu and RSV than the general population.
We will continue to monitor the cases within the community and look to
lift the restrictions as soon as it is safe for our patients, visitors
and employees.”
The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center:
- Children under 12 years old are not permitted to visit unless they are
resident family members. They must wear a mask when visiting.
- All visitors are encouraged to use hand sanitizer prior to visiting any
resident. Masks and hand sanitizer stations are located at the main entrance.
- Visitors who feel ill, or have symptoms such as fever or cough, should
not visit.
“It is unfortunate that we have had to implement visiting restrictions”,
said Jonni Belden, The Legacy Administrator. “Since moving into
The Legacy we have seen a significant increase in visits from resident’s
family and friends and we encourage it to continue, but we also have to
keep the health and wellness of our residents and employees our first
priority. We will lift the restrictions as soon as we can.”
