About David

David Custis, PA-C, RN, MSN, brings decades of experience in rural healthcare to Campbell County Health. He began his career as a registered nurse after completing his training at St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. Over the course of his career, David has continued to pursue opportunities to broaden his impact in patient care. After earning both his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Education early on, he later completed the Physician Assistant–Certified (PA-C) program at the University of North Dakota. During this time, he also spent several years teaching as a Physician Assistant and Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Midland, Texas. While he valued the opportunity to educate future providers, he ultimately realized his passion was in patient focused care and returned to clinical practice.

Much of David’s career has been spent serving rural communities throughout South Dakota and Wyoming. He practiced for many years in Wall, South Dakota, where he cared for patients across all stages of life and developed a special interest in geriatric care. He also spent many years working in urgent care, gaining experience treating a wide range of conditions and patients.

David and his wife moved to Gillette in 2019 after he accepted an opportunity to practice locally. Originally from a small town near Yankton, South Dakota, he understands the importance of accessible healthcare in rural communities and enjoys caring for patients in areas where providers are essential to the community.

David and his wife have three daughters, two of whom live in Gillette and one who lives in Texas. Outside of work, David enjoys spending time outdoors and visiting areas throughout Wyoming and Montana that he explored growing up. He especially enjoys returning to the Bighorn Mountains. He and his wife also enjoy staying active and spending time walking at the local recreation center.

David will be caring for patients at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center as well as Campbell County Health. We are pleased to have him join our team and look forward to the experience and compassionate care he brings to our community.
