Dr. Rodney Biggs Recertified in Surgery

Rodney Biggs in Scrubs Dr. Rodney Biggs has received recertification in Surgery from the American Board of Surgery (ABS), valid through 2026.

The American Board of Surgery is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training and knowledge in the field of surgery. Surgeons certified by the ABS, known as diplomates, have completed at least five years of residency training following medical school, met all ABS training requirements, and successfully completed the ABS' written and oral examinations.

Once certified, ABS diplomates must maintain their certification by completing continuing education and assessment activities, including a written examination at 10-year intervals. Since 1976, the ABS has issued time-limited certificates that must be renewed every 10 years.

The ABS is one of 24 medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Through ABMS, the boards work together to establish common standards for physicians to achieve and maintain board certification. The boards were founded by their respective specialties to protect the public by assessing and certifying doctors who meet specific educational, training and professional requirements. The ABMS is an independent, nonprofit organization. For more information, visit or the ABMS' patient site,

Dr. Biggs’ practice is Rodney Biggs, MD, PC, 1414 West Fourth St. in Gillette.
