GARF receives donation from CCH consultant group

Today, Campbell County Health information technology consultant Cornerstone Advisors Group, LLC gave a $10,000 donation to the Gillette Abuse Refuge Foundation (GARF) through its employee contributed charitable organization CAres. Established in 2012, CAres enables Cornerstone Advisors and its associates the opportunity to give back to their clients' patients, communities, and employees. The program is funded through the personal contributions of Cornerstone Associates as well as a matching company contribution.

Margie Mcwilliams, GARF director, says the funds will be used to help their clients meet some basic needs such as childcare, food, gas, rent and utilities.

"Being able to give our clients this initial boost of help can assist them in being more successful. Sometimes the support our agency provides is all it takes to help someone be empowered and flourish in a life free from violence," says Margie.

GARF has partnered with CCH to train Emergency Department staff on performing post assault examinations. This partnership and training has helped victims and their cases by collecting proper information at the time of the examination, assisting both the identification of a possible assault as well as maintaining this information for the associated judicial case. Since this partnership with CCH, the success rate in these proceedings has increased significantly.

For those who don't know, GARF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of quality services to meet the needs of those affected by domestic violence and or sexual assault. GARF further works to reduce the elements that foster violence through community collaboration and education in Campbell County, Wyoming. The Foundation provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with services available to friends, family, and other support persons to help them better understand the crisis the victim is experiencing.
