Thanks for working here Thursday: Rhonda Wortman, CCH Health Information and Records

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County, Wyoming community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Allow us to introduce you to Rhonda Wortman, a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) in Health Information and Records (Medical Records) at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming. Rhonda has earned an Associate in Health Science–Health Information Management (Summa Cum Laude), and has worked in health care for 45 years! She initially began working for CCH in 1978, but left in 1998, and returned again in 2005. “When people ask me how long I have been with CCH, I like to tell them that I have been here longer than the hospital has been here!” she says.

She was inspired to work in health care by her mom. “My mother worked as an aide in our hometown hospital when I was growing up, and that really helped me make my decision,” she says.

As for a health care hero, Rhonda says she has a hard time pinpointing one person. “I have met so many amazing people in the health care profession, in so many different positions. It takes special people to work in health care no matter what department they are in, what job they do and I think we have some of the best right here at CCH.”

When Rhonda isn’t working, she enjoys taking her beautiful dog Baby for long walks! “I have lots of family in Gillette and I like spending time with them whenever I can. I enjoy seeing new places whenever I can,” she says. Rhonda is also very involved with various aspects of St. Matthew’s Catholic Community.

We asked Rhonda what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“I just feel comfortable here and like so many people. Since I have worked here for so many years, I know a lot of the faces and they know me—both staff and visitors—but there are also so many new faces to get to know. The Health Information and Records department is always so busy and always changing. There is always plenty to keep me busy and on my toes! I started as a PBX operator, registration person and then returned to school to get my Associate Degree and successfully completed the RHIT certification requirements in Health Information Management. You can continually evolve at CCH.

To me, excellence everyday means treating people that I meet as I would want to be treated—with respect, kindness, and compassion. Also, doing the very best job I can do because that is not only a reflection on me but on CCH as a whole.”

Thank you, Rhonda for treating everyone with respect, kindness and compassion. We are proud to have you on our team!
