Thanks for working here this week: Kimberley Harrison, CPT, Lab Assistant

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Introducing Kimberley Harrison, who wears many hats at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital Laboratory in Gillette Wyoming. Kimberley is a lab assistant, phlebotomist (CPT) and receptionist. She’s been with CCH for nine years, but has been in healthcare for nearly 15 years—she began her career in Cleveland, Ohio as a medical assistant for a Dialysis clinic. For those who don’t know, phlebotomists draw and prepare blood for medical testing, transfusions or donation. They are trained to blood via venipuncture, finger pricks, or in the case of infants, heel pricks.

Kimberley pursued a career in healthcare because she lost her father unexpectedly from a heart attack at 15 years old. “Since then, I had a drive and sympathy for helping others going through various medical troubles,” she says.

She calls her health care hero her mom. “She’s the strongest, most loving, giving, caring person I’ve ever met. After retiring from a paralegal career, and becoming an empty nester, she became a caregiver helping others.”

When she’s not at work, you can find Kimberley spending time with her boyfriend, Kenny, and their children: Devon, Dylan and Olivia. “I enjoy watching them play sports, and enjoy their hobbies and talents. My oldest son, Devon, is graduating this year and that is a whole new mix of emotions. I love spending time outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, taking road trips, and working on projects. I also love music (especially on vinyl), movies, reading, sports, and cooking,” she says. A road trip she’s looking forward to, as soon as travel is safer, is a trip back home to visit family and friends in Cleveland.

We asked Kimberley what she likes most about working for CCH and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“I feel the most pride in my work when I do everything I can to make the patients experience as best as it can be. I love working in the lab. I enjoy my time with the patients, and also my co-workers, we’re like an extended family here, I could not ask for a better group of people to work with!

To me Excellence Every Day means easing the workload of those around me like communicating with other departments to ensure the best care for our patients—I try to make their visit as smooth and friendly an experience as it can be. I remember the patients’ names, tests, visits, I lend an ear to listen to stories, a hug to make a day—to me a patient should never feel like a number.”

Thank you, Kimberley for going the extra mile for our patients at the Lab. We appreciate you!
