COVID-19 vaccination requirement for CCH healthcare professionals

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) issued a regulation on November 5, 2021, requiring healthcare facilities to establish a policy requiring all staff, providers, volunteers, students, vendors and contractors working at Campbell County Health in Wyoming to be vaccinated against COVID-19, or receive an approved exemption.

CCH is regulated under the Medicare health and safety standards known as Conditions of Participation, (CoPs). In order for CCH to participate in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, healthcare providers and facilities must have a process and policy in place ensuring that all applicable staff are vaccinated against COVID-19, or receive an approved exemption. There are severe penalties for noncompliance, including denial of payments, monetary penalties, and termination from the Medicare and Medicaid program as a final measure. Noncompliance would result in the revocation of our license with CMS and our community’s only hospital would be closed, along with other services such as Emergency Medical Services, The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center, clinics, among others.

Eligible staff must receive the first dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or a one-dose COVID-19 vaccine by December 6, 2021, or receive an approved exemption.

CCH Leadership and the Board of Trustees know that these are very difficult circumstances for our staff. We want our employees to know that we support them, but no other options have been provided to us. We are working hard to figure out how we can retain our wonderful, hard-working employees.

CCH encourages you to talk with your health care provider about the COVID-19 vaccine. To learn where you can get a COVID-19 vaccine in Campbell County, Wyoming, or for more information about COVID-19 vaccines, please visit www.cchwyo.org/c19vaccine.
