Thanks for Working Here This Week: Emily Villmov

Meet Emily Villmow, registered nurse in ICU. Emily has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from South Dakota State University and has worked for CCH for 21 years. She started her career at CCH as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the Medical Surgical Unit while home for breaks during college. She began working full time as a registered nurse on the Medical Surgical unit after graduation, and transferred to the ICU in 2006, where she has been ever since.

Emily took a mentorship class in high school where she shadowed the nurses in the Surgery department for a semester.

“I thought this was really interesting and fun for a high school student,” said Emily “I may have just about passed out observing Dr. Hartsaw doing surgery, but that did not seem to deter me from looking to pursue a career in nursing. I also took a certified nurse assistant course that the high school offered as a regular elective class. I guess that is where my journey began.”

Emily says, “It is impossible for me to pick just one healthcare hero. I have had the pleasure of working with a lot if amazing nurses and doctors over the years here at CCH, past and present, who have been very influential in my career here.”

Emily takes great pride in the fact that she has worked at CCH for her entire 21-year career in healthcare.

“I have seen a lot of changes throughout the years here at CCH, but I keep showing up and try to always have a ‘glass half full’ positive attitude,” says Emily. “I believe that Excellence Every Day means to show up, provide the best care possible, and support each other and the patients and families.”

She believes that the ICU is a great department to work in.

“We have wonderful nurses and teamwork, and I truly believe that is why I have been in ICU all these years,” says Emily. “If you have a great working relationship and teamwork with your coworkers, it trickles down and turns into great care that you provide to patients and families.”

"Emily is a hardworking and skillful critical care nurse," said Laura Castellanos, Manager of ICU and Med Surg. "She has her team’s back and that of CCH as she assists to keep our ICU operating at capacity and at demand in a smooth and efficient manner. Emily, without a doubt you are an ultimate team player."

Outside of work, Emily stays busy with what she calls the “raising kids” stage of life. Emily and her husband Ryan have a 13-year-old son, Caiden, and a 10-year-old daughter, Ashtyn. She enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, four-wheeling in the mountains, spending lake days with friends, listening to podcasts, and getting away out of town to shop and eat at great restaurants.

Thank you Emily, for taking great care of our patients every day at Campbell County Health. We appreciate all that you do.
