Surgical Services at Campbell County Health

It's not uncommon to need a surgical procedure at some point throughout your life. Surgery is a big decision, and every procedure is unique, just as every person is unique.

Your surgeon collaborates with a team of professionals at CCH Surgical Services to provide safe and effective care before, during and after your procedure. We work closely with you and your loved ones, so you are informed and comfortable every step of the way. Our goal is to provide an environment most conducive to your healing so you can get back to living life as quickly as possible.

The CCH surgery team includes anesthesia providers, registered nurses, certified surgical technicians, and certified sterile processing staff.

Surgeons perform many different types of surgeries at CCH: general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, gynecologic surgery, orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, urological surgery, pain procedure, and cardiac procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab.

We are proud of our surgical facilities and want to tell you a little more about what we have to offer. CCH completed a major building expansion project in 2012, creating the current Surgical Services department: four operating rooms, two endoscopy suites (for procedures like colonoscopy or endoscopy), one procedure room (for pain procedures and wound care), a five-bed recovery room, and 18 private rooms for patients to prepare for surgery and return after recovery for discharge.

The operating rooms, endoscopy suites, and procedure room are all equipped with specialized equipment like high-definition camera systems that are used to produce still and video images during surgical procedures. Many surgical procedures are performed laparoscopically. A Laparoscope is a small telescope containing a camera that allows the doctor to see clearly into your abdomen using small incisions within the abdomen or pelvis.  The magnified image that the doctor sees through the lens of the camera is transmitted to a computer monitor for better viewing.  Laparoscopy can be used to inspect and diagnose an ailment or to perform surgery. Appendectomies, gallbladder surgery and hernia repair are some of the procedures commonly performed laparoscopically.

An updated feature of the camera system allows real-time video messaging from the operating room, so providers can consult with their colleagues during a surgery from another operating room, or even in the provider’s office.

All four operating rooms can be visually monitored from several different locations, enabling staff to check the progress of a surgery from the nurses’ station, recovery room, central control room and doctor’s lounge.

“We have amazing surgical facilities, and even more amazing staff,” said Delayne Howie, Clinical Care Supervisor, and registered nurse. “The real benefit to our patients is that we’re located right in the hospital. Patients can have all their pre-op testing right here, and there is a seamless transition if they need to stay in the hospital after their surgery. We have in-house access to specialists and emergency care if needed—it’s all right here.”

You have a choice when it comes to surgery. Ask your surgeon to perform your procedure at Campbell County Memorial Hospital.
