Choose You and Prevent Type 2 Diabetes

A year-long diabetes prevention program, developed by the Centers for Disease Control, that focuses on nutrition, physical activity and helping participants make behavioral changes to prevent type 2 diabetes. It will be a small group to help individuals get the attention they need and will only cost $150. The program takes place from May 15, 2018-May 14, 2019—the group meets 16 times during the first six months and monthly during the last six months. Diabetes Education is hosting another educational session for the Choose You and Prevent Type 2 Diabetes program on Monday, May 7 from 7-8 pm at the Ground Floor Conference Room at Campbell County Memorial Hospital, 501 S. Burma Avenue, in Gillette. This information session is free! Learn more at or call 307-688-3615.

Get DEEP™ Into Diabetes

Taught by CCH professionals, the Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP™) is a free, six-week program for community members who either have diabetes, or care for or support someone who has diabetes. The two-hour classes provide free self-management education so people are empowered to improve and maintain their quality of life with diabetes. This course does not provide formal diabetes education or develop personalized medical plans. Classes are offered on Mondays from May 7-June 18, 9:30-11:30 am at the Campbell County Senior Center, 701 Stocktrail Avenue. Registration is required. Call 307.688.3615 for more information. Diabetes Support Group

CCH’s Diabetes Support Group, which began in April, meets monthly on the second Thursday of each month from 6:30-8 pm in the Ground Floor Conference Room by the Campbell County Memorial Hospital Cafeteria, 501 S. Burma Avenue. This group is facilitated by CCH Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietitian Heidi Gillette, who understands what patients with diabetes experience every day because she lives with diabetes herself. Topics for the support group will include recipe modifications and food choices, medication challenges, preventing complications, exercise and emotional issues. The group meeting on Thursday, May 10 will feature Kay Holm, BSW, CCH Social Worker, who will talk about being a supportive family member or friend. More topics and information is available at
