Thanks for working here Thursday: Cassie Staschel, Heptner Cancer Center

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County, Wyoming community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Allow us to introduce Cassie Staschel, a Department Secretary at the Heptner Cancer Center at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming. Cassie has worked at CCH for the last 12 years, but has been in healthcare for the last 25! She entered healthcare right out of high school. “After my mom passed away of cancer, I had just graduated high school and a friend of hers offered me a job in a medical office. I have loved it ever since,” Cassie says.

Cassie also says that her healthcare hero is not any one person. “It is everyone. Everyone who works in healthcare contributes in some way, and we could not do our job without everyone else!” she says.

According to Leigh Worsley, Cancer Center Director, Cassie is an important member of the medical oncology and infusion center team: “She is very organized and engaged. She has been a huge asset to our LEAN outpatient antibiotic team and has implemented a lot of great process improvement ideas that have made the experience better for our patients. She is also very creative and took the lead on the Cancer Center’s Festival of Trees tree that we donated to the event. She does thoughtful things for her co-workers and the community in her spare time away from work. I appreciate everything that she does for our department and our patients and their families!”

When Cassie isn’t working, she is with her family. “I spend a lot of time with my three children and my husband. We love sports, hunting and fishing. Also going back home to Montana to see family.”

We asked Cassie what she likes most about working at CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“Everyone at CCH is here for the patient and puts patients’ needs first. We are all a family here at the Cancer Center. Our patients are our family. Patients have told me: ‘We can just talk about everyday things, not about my disease. They already know what is going on so it is so nice to talk about something else.’

To me, Excellence every day means doing your absolute best for everyone, not just your patients but your co-workers, too; and doing it with a smile.”

Thank you, Cassie for going the extra mile for our patients and employees. We are proud to have you on our team.

Is there a CCH employee who went the extra mile or shows you extraordinary service? Give them a pat on the back by completing an Excellence Everyday card.
