CCH awards DAISY Award to Beth Wilson, RN

CCH awarded the First Quarter 2021 DAISY Award to Beth Wilson, RN, who works in the Campbell County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The Daisy Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Beth was nominated for the DAISY Award by CCMH Director of Acute Care Sherry Bailey and Mark Young, who was a patient in the ICU in Spring 2020.

Sherry submitted a letter by Mr. Young, who praised Beth, and gave Sherry permission to share it in hopes that Beth would receive the DAIST Award. Here is the letter:

“… I would especially like to point to nurse Beth... She was probably the most personable nurse I have ever been around. She kept me informed, she made sure I was pain free and took the time to talk to me, not just run in and out doing her job. She made me feel like the only patient on the floor and when it came time that I needed to transfer to another hospital, she was instrumental in contacting Dr. Canfield, who also went out of his way in assuring that I found a place to transfer to that made the best sense to transfer me to. Beth and Dr. Canfield were amazing and I consider myself very lucky to have been in their care.”

Sherry remarked that Beth consistently receives similar feedback from her patients; however, she also receives feedback from other employees. Beth is a preceptor, which means that she helps with training our new nurses to safely and compassionately care for our patients, in addition to helping them to feel welcomed and cared for themselves. One of the new nurses she’s working with is Tori Long, who had this to say about Beth:

“Beth has a knack for training and finding opportunities to teach in everything we do. She knows when to push and let me do tasks on my own, take on more responsibility or when to jump in when I’m lost. I truly appreciate her guidance and calm demeanor as I transition."

According to Sherry, Beth is “truly inspirational to other nurses and those she cares for.”

Congratulations, Beth, on your DAISY Award. We’re proud to have you on our team.
