CCH December 2017 Volunteer Spotlights: Lloyd Darnall and Jimmy Mercer

Meet Lloyd Darnall and Jimmy Mercer, two valuable volunteers with Campbell County Health in Gillette, Wyoming!

Lloyd started volunteering in 2012 delivering newspapers and magazines around Campbell County Memorial Hospital. He delivers magazines to 15 different CCMH departments/locations every Wednesday and has more than 200 volunteer hours.

CCH Volunteer Lloyd DarnallWe’re very fortunate that Lloyd can fit us into his busy schedule between playing cards, dancing and visiting former neighbors at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center. He is always busy doing something or going somewhere.

Jimmy also started volunteering in 2012 at The Legacy, and delivering newspapers at hospital. Now he delivers newspapers five days a week at CCMH. He loves visiting with guests and staff, and puts a smile on the faces of everyone he comes in contact with. Jimmy enjoys video gaming and taking his dogs for rides in the truck. He has volunteered over 440 hours for CCH.

CCH Volunteer Jimmy Mercer“I have come to know Jimmy over the last several years – watching him grow from being extremely shy to being surprisingly outgoing,” said Rene Michelena in the CCMH Dialysis Center. “I look forward to the reliable time in which walks into the clinic. Although our patients greatly appreciate his newspaper delivery, it’s not the newspaper I am looking forward to. It’s Jimmy’s vibrancy, his liveliness as a young man that I am blessed to be a witness of each day. His utter thankfulness for his adoptive parents, his respect for their military service and for all who serve in the military, his love of our country’s flag, and the love for his wife – all bundled with his delightful sense of humor – well, that’s the excellence every day that Jimmy proudly and voluntarily delivers. In just a few minutes each day, he leaves the clinic better than he found it.”

Lloyd and Jimmy embody the spirit of volunteerism—giving their time for the opportunity to help others. Thanks Jimmy and Lloyd, for all you do!
