Thanks for working here this week: Cassie Staschel, Oncology

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Introducing Cassie Staschel, Patient Account Counselor in the Oncology Department at the Heptner Cancer Center at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming. Cassie has worked for CCH for more than 15 years! She also mentioned that she’s worked in health care since she was 18 years old, with a small break in-between.

She was inspired to work in healthcare after her mom died of cancer. “I had just graduated from high school. A friend of hers called me and asked if I would like to come work at a medical practice she worked at. Ever since then I have loved helping people,” she says.

When it comes to healthcare heroes, Cassie can’t just pick one person. “I would have to say everyone I work with is a healthcare hero. We all work together and couldn’t do what we do without each other. We are all heroes to someone especially lately!” she says.

When Cassie isn’t at work, she loves spending time with her family and dogs! “I also love to watch my daughter play basketball. I enjoy making several trips a year back to Montana to visit my family and all of my nephews,” she says.

We asked Cassie what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“I love Oncology. The patients become family here. We get to know them on a more personal level. When they come in here, they don’t have to talk about their cancer. We can talk to them about life, what’s been going on with the kids or grandkids. They don’t have to focus on their cancer here, we already know that so we can talk to them about other things and hopefully take their mind off of it for just a little bit! Also we work so good here as a team, we have the best group of employees.

Excellence every day means doing the best you can every day and treating people like you or your family member would want to be treated.”

Cassie also wanted to add: “I would just like to say thank you to all of our healthcare workers for all your hard work during this difficult time with COVID. You truly are appreciated.”

Thank you, Cassie for all your hard work to take care of our patients. We are proud to have you on our team.
