About David
Dr. Mohlman, brings decades of experience in internal medicine, hospital care, medical education, and patient-centered practice to the Campbell County Medical Group’s Complex & Internal Medicine team at Campbell County Health. |
Originally from Ohio, Dr. Mohlman did not always know he wanted to become a physician. His path to medicine began through a series of experiences, including his mother passing from leukemia when he was young. That eventually pointed him toward a career caring for and serving others. The combination of these events gave him an early view of the impact healthcare can have on patients and families while also sparking his interest in research. |
Years later, with about one year of undergraduate education at Hillsdale College remaining, a family member asked him over a family dinner if he had ever considered becoming a doctor. Around the same time, a college friend was preparing to take the Medical College Admission Test, or MCAT. Dr. Mohlman decided to take the exam alongside him. The two drove to the test together, and after passing the exam, Dr. Mohlman applied to only one medical school and was accepted to Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. |
During his third and fourth years of medical school, Dr. Mohlman gained unique hands-on experience working in local hospitals caring for patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. His training exposed him to surgery, obstetrics, intensive care and hospital medicine, primary care medicine, and other areas of patient care. He also developed his strong interest in serving patients, continuing education, and understanding complicated medical conditions. To Dr. Mohlman, complex and internal medicine, seemed like a natural fit. “I knew from my first year out of residency that practicing medicine and serving people was what God put me in this world to do,” Dr. Mohlman said. “I serve God by serving patients and people.” |
Following residency, Dr. Mohlman worked in a small community hospital in Michigan, taking care of patients both in the hospital and in the office for 15 years. His approach centered on building meaningful relationships with his patients. From the beginning of his medical career, rather than focusing on seeing as many patients as possible, he intentionally spent time listening, understanding patients’ concerns, and developing relationships with the people he cared for and continues to do the same today despite all the changes and challenges of the healthcare system. “Practicing medicine is all about relationships,” Dr. Mohlman said, a philosophy that continues to guide the way he cares for patients today. |
Dr. Mohlman later moved to Colorado, where he worked as a hospitalist and became deeply involved in medical education. During his time there, he helped start and manage eight physician training programs and spent approximately 10 years teaching the next generation of healthcare professionals. After years of clinical practice and educating, Dr. Mohlman and his family were ready for a change. They moved to Wyoming permanently in 2021. When asked what drew his family to the Gillette community, his answer was immediate. “Honestly, it was CCH and St. Matthew’s Catholic Church,” Dr. Mohlman said. “Both are amazing places, and the people are wonderful. They made us feel at home. Wyoming is our happy place. It brings us peace and joy!" |
For him, joining Campbell County Health is an opportunity to continue doing the work he believes he was called to do: caring for and serving people, solving complex medical problems, and developing lasting relationships with patients and the community. He looks forward to serving patients through CCMG’s Complex & Internal Medicine clinic and helping individuals better understand and manage their health. |
