Join other caregivers who share the same task to build a local support system.

The Caregiver Support Group provides information for taking care of yourself and your loved one along with sharing advice and understanding with other caregivers. Meetings held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center at 1000 S. Douglas Avenue in Gillette, Wyoming at 6:30 pm; light refreshments provided.

Meetings will open with short informational presentations on a variety of caregiver topics followed by personal experience sharing. Some sessions will offer guest presenters with topics such as:

  • nutrition
  • exercise
  • home safety
  • medical needs
  • how to talk with someone with dementia
  • taking care of the caregiver
  • and social and family circle for support

Upcoming Caregiver Support Group Sessions

  • January 28: Looking over the journey; have our loved ones' conditions changed? Is the job harder than it was? Review of the holidays and how things are going.
  • February 11: Vi Nodland will review the Miller Trust and the preparatory steps for admission to The Legacy.
  • February 25: Teepa Snow will explore the causes and meaning of sundowning.
  • March 10: Dr. Neuwirth will discuss being prepared for the inevitability of the caregiving process. Are you ready for the next steps in the journey?
  • March 24: Review of the stages of dementia for our newer members; our veteran members can share how they knew when things were changing.
